December 08 saw us family travel into the heartlands of Sundarbans! 10000sqkm of sheer delight. With tides rising & falling upto 12-16ft, twice a day, the place is not for the faint hearted. Amidst all the tidal surges of saline waters, a large number of fauna exist, thrive even. Estuarine Crocs, Wild Boar, Spotted Deer & scores of species of resident & migratory birds are familiar sighting. However, the Royal Bengal Tiger, in all his majesty, rules here! Perhaps the only place on earth that he calls the shots over the otherwise dominant human race. And when you come face to face with one such 'couldn't care less what i hunt down' beast, it takes the wind out of your sails!
On one such cold December morning, as we were feasting breakfast on the deck of the resort's yacht, we were treated to this poetry in motion! Muddy paws & all. Never mind that his initial curiosity soon settled down to boredom! (see pic amidst the 'sundari' trees)
